Researchers at the University of Tokyo's Biohybrid Systems Laboratory cultured human skin cells in collagen gel and attached the living tissue to robot surfaces using tiny perforations and plasma treatment. This allows the skin to stretch realistically over 3D faces, self-heal small cuts through cell growth, and mimic human movements without bleeding. Professor Shoji Takeuchi's team, publishing in June 2024, aims for robots with added nerves and glands; applications include disaster-response bots and drug-testing models. While some raised Terminator alarms, the work focuses on practical benefits like tougher exteriors and humanlike sensing.


Scientists have grown living human skin on robots with real human DNA... 

 

They can actually bleed and heal...????

 

We just gave machines the one thing that makes us human....
