A 12-year-old Michigan girl is dead and nobody can tell her family exactly why. Olivia Mae Marie Smith collapsed and died after an incident outside a friend’s house.
On July 7th a 911 call was made around 9:21 p.m. and claimed Olivia ran face-first into a tree and was unconscious. Ring camera footage from the porch shows her sitting outside around 9:15 p.m. before walking off toward the trees. Six minutes later that call went out. She was rushed to the hospital and never made it home.
Bay County Medical Examiner William Morrone has called the case “atypical” and a mystery. Full autopsy results are still weeks away. Olivia reportedly had a heart condition, but officials have not said whether it played any role.
Her family has flat-out rejected the “ran into a tree” story, saying they know that is not what happened and that they have additional details they cannot release while the investigation is open. The Bay County Sheriff’s Department is looking into conflicting accounts, including reports that she may have been chased, but nothing has been confirmed.
