He is right though. Not the first to say this, but to believe in the American Dream, you have to be asleep. Other countries have flaws too, some are better to live, some are worse, but the truth is the US is not the best. That is just an inception planted in your heads, years of constant repetition. And this has nothing to do with loving or not loving your country. Of course you can love, be proud of it (for what you can). You are just misguided, working overtime, feeding the corporations, full in debt, losing freedoms (which by the way other people in other countries have too) inch by inch, constantly watched, nagged consumers..
Ever wondered why people on average, the fullborn americans, who already lost their (deep) roots to Europe are so bad in history and geography? Not taught, not educated well, so you won't know.

France: Invaded country. Socialist state with a high tax rate.
Russia: Don't say a word in public. At war.
China: You can get arrested because of your opinion or your religion.
Germany: No work for you unless you want a very low salary.
Mexico, etc: Not real countries; independant powers are controlling large part of the country (Columbia), impunity for crimes, poverty. Water is scarce in some areas.

-For you it may be the top experience to have sg. at other countries that you have/had at home. But a country not being to your likeness doesn't make it "communist". Norway follows in problem solving what jewish-american sociologists came up for as solutions. Social experiments in a highly developed country with past of nazi puppet Quisling led era in WWII. Of course Norway rather leans left.
-France is chasing it's dreams, in which not kicked around as a greater power. But taxing is not a socialist thing. High taxes can be a problem, if the state does not provide services for that. Like affordable health care. Which people in the US do not have. And it is not "socialism" and "communism" automatically not to be forced to pay 100$ for a single pill, what is 3$ a dozen in India.
-Russia is named enemy by jews, no matter what is it's system. Constantly nagged and under attack in the past decades, as if it was still under communist rule. Communism had it's toll on Russia too. And do you really think free speech still exists in a way it had before in European countries, and the US? They are coming for you peace-time.
