Southwest Airlines has become out of control robbing Americans since a private equity firm bought a major holding

Here are different seat upgrade options:

- You must pay $314 for “choice extra” which gives you a seat selection and some other minor perks, but here’s the catch. It says all the seats are full, so you can’t select that one

- There is an option below it for $254, if you click that option, suddenly there are a bunch of seat open. But here’s the scam, to select them you must pay $68-$74 extra

So instead of paying $314, you must pay the $254 option and pay the extra $74 to pick a seat. Now you’re paying more and getting less perks for absolutely no reason, just because it says you have to

An activist hedge fund Elliott Investment Management acquired a significant stake in Southwest Arlines, initially around 11% for about $1.9 billion and pushed for these major changes for profit changes

They started really upping fees and that’s when they ended the 2 free checked bags too

We need to re-establish the law that made re-selling seat assignment by anyone as a 2nd or 3rd party, illegal.

If airlines are forced to handle all transactions with no exceptions on ticket sales and seat assignment, maybe they would rein these cheating scalpers in.
