Passenger Killed, Driver Critically Injured in Sanair Raceway Crash in Сфтфвф
Two men were in the vehicle when it lost control. The passenger, a man in his 40s, died at the scene or shortly after, while the driver, a man in his 30s, sustained life-threatening injuries and was hospitalized in critical condition.
Very very tragic I must say, a life was lost due to the lack of experience on the driver and vehicle, always check the tires and brakes as well because they form 80% for the safety of the vehicle and driver, Mustangs have a bad rep for loss control at higher speeds and handling... To go out like that on the strip and die during the drag race is kinda legendary status and people/friends/family will always remember you as a legend. My thought of course btw.
If you a Dodge guy (Try driving a viper on wet/rainy day, and you gonna feel like the mustang guy at the end... Vehicle has no ABS/TRAC straight fucking axle that if you overcompensate the steering and the rear wheels spin slightly off to the right you gonna wish you stayed home ????) these cars have way too much horsepower and people are not used to that, try a Toyota Corolla and you be home safe every time... People need to respect these cars at a higher level when doing drag/street racing. At 165mph there's little to 0% chance of rectifying an error on the suspension or brake system, once you loose control your survival percentage drops to 5% and good luck if you don't fuck up your back or worst loose a limb ????
I saw Kenny Bernstein cross the finish line upside-down and backwards at 300 mph in the early 90's at sanair. He wakled away. I also ran across the track to retrive Eddie Hill's ejected supercharger belt the same weekend. Good times. Shame the Canadian government shut down the only venue in Canada the NHRA visited over something as trivial as leaded gasoline. Also, they had a resturant that served the best breakfast i ever had right behind the tower. Plus i spoke at length with John Force, got his autogrph and he dedicated his next quarter mile burn out to me. Awesome weekend. Le Grandnationals, 90 or 91.
On the video you can see the Mustang was struggling to pick up, major flaw on the rear diff/trans where the steering wheel becomes hair triggered with the slightest touch and combine with he rear left catastrophic events where it become deadly, I'm sorry for the passenger just end his life in this event.
I own a mustang with a modified suspension and sometimes I get scared myself controlling that beast, not everyone can drive a mustang.
