Brittany Clark, 31, was swimming with her boyfriend and best friend during a hike in Little Big Econ State Forest when a 13-foot gator attacked in shallow, murky water.

Her boyfriend fought the animal desperately, freeing one arm before it clamped onto the other.

The 911 audio is chilling.

They noticed bubbles in the water minutes earlier and laughed them off.

Most people in Florida understand that you never swim in anything but a swimming pool. Even the retention pond for our subdivision near Orlando had an 8 foot gator for awhile. The Apopka Wildlife Trail is only 8 miles north of my house. The average gator is probably 10 or 12 feet long but I've seen dozens of them that were over 14 feet long. My wife and I, along with about a dozen other people, recently saw one that was every bit of 20 feet long. The largest I've ever seen. In the 1950's they caught an alligator that was 19 feet long in Lake Apopka.

@MisterProgneto It's safer to swim in ocean than rivers and ponds from predators in Florida. LOL. But many still swim in rivers and ponds. Contrary to common belief, alligators typically avoid humans and do not actively hunt people as prey. Attacks are extremely rare. Alligators target smaller animals, not humans.
