That is what happened to Margerita B. Wargola, who went in for a routine eye exam and had no idea that, just minutes later, her eyes would look like a scene from a science fiction film.
During the exam, doctors used fluorescein — a special dye commonly used in ophthalmology to help detect scratches, injuries, or other issues on the cornea and surface of the eye.
Normally, it is a simple medical procedure.
But this time, one tiny detail changed everything.
Margerita forgot to remove her contact lenses.
When the dye was applied, the material of the lenses immediately absorbed it.
The result was so unexpected that it was impossible not to stare: her eyes turned a vivid, almost neon green.
