An Iowa nursing assistant was fired from Ottumwa Regional Health Center. The hospital stated it has a zero-tolerance policy for such unacceptable behavior.

Cole "Tiny" Cross was receiving treatment for congenital heart disease.

A friend of the patient recorded a video showing a nursing assistant using dental floss directly above the patient as he tried to get her attention.

The hospital suspended and then terminated the staff member immediately after the video was flagged.
