HICKORY, N.C. — A 19-year-old died Saturday from injuries sustained in a motorcycle crash on US Highway 70 SE in Hickory on Friday evening. The motorcyclist, identified as Alex Austin, was riding eastbound on US Highway 70 SE near 21st Street Lane SE around 8:12 p.m. when he struck the rear of a 2021 Hyundai Kona that was traveling in the same direction, according to the Hickory Police Department. Austin was initially transported to Catawba Valley Media Center, then airlifted to Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, where he died Saturday from his injuries. No charges have been filed as of Monday, June 15, police said. The Hickory Police Department continues to investigate the crash.

@Lemmiwinks Geezuss. That is fucking horrible. I had a bike in the early '90s and realized quickly that I wasn't responsible enough to have one. Not to mention all the vids on The YNC of these kids wrapping their bikes around truck bumpers.
