Teen in critical condition after stabbing at Merced County Fair; 3 in custody

MERCED, Calif. — A 15-year-old was hospitalized in critical condition after being stabbed during a fight Sunday night at the Merced County Fair.

Deputies with the Merced County Sheriff’s Office, who were working at the fairgrounds, responded to the carnival area for a physical altercation.

When they arrived, they found a teen suffering from several stab wounds.

The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he remained in critical condition.

Investigators identified three suspects as 26-year-old Nathaniel Yanez and two juveniles. All three were taken into custody.

“This is believed to be an isolated incident; however, the investigation remains ongoing,” the sheriff’s office said. “We are aware of several videos circulating online related to this incident, and we’d like to thank the members of the public who have reached out to our agency.”
