That's a wrap on The Resurrection of the Christ — Mel Gibson's long-awaited sequel to The Passion of the Christ.

After a massive 134-day shoot across Italy, director Mel Gibson took a microphone on set to personally thank the cast and crew for completing principal photography on the film, which has been over 20 years in development.

The audio captured him saying:

"Since I'm all yours here and I've got a microphone... I just want to tell you all thank you so much for all your efforts, your support, your sacrifice, your love, the encouragements all through, the prayers and intercessions, thank you all for everything great and everything “small”, in the end it was all worth it.

Now it’s time to make sure the Lord gets glorified in all of this."

Gilbson couldn't get even one American producer to back his production of The Passion of the Christ.

They are all anti-Christian. He knew it, he said he, "just didn't think it was THAT pervasive in Hollywood"

So he bankrolled the $ 30 million production himself.

It grossed a total of $ 612 million. With over $300 million in profit to himself since he bypassed all of the fees normally associated with a financed production.

So with the sequel here, he basically said, "Fuck the Hollywood film makers and their hatred of Christianity along with their high costs of production! I'm making this movie in Italy where they still like Christians."

Don't think this one will do quite as well though....
