Two Florida deputies are being hailed as heroes after rushing into the ocean to rescu

Rushing into the ocean my ass. They didn't even get their feet wet. And if she was out any further you know they would have just let her drown.

The water must be prejudiced

A hero is a fellow human who put him or her self somehow in harms or dangers way to help another person. Other than that you're "just" a good fellow human.
Simple as that in my book.

I'm not trying to diminish the work that our first responders do, but at no point was there any jeopardy to their lives in this video. It's not like they dove into 28°F water in the Grand Banks, or into a building that's a blazing inferno. They waded into water deep enough to get their socks wet. I wouldn't call them hereos.

I was coming home from the gas station last year, and some ancient dude on a mobility scooter somehow drove off the edge of the sidewalk and tipped over into the street. Am I a hero for helping him out of the street before the light turned green and righting his scooter? No. Civic duty doesn't make you a hero, imho.

Thanks officers, took a lot of courage to rush into the 2 foot deep ocean! Hero’s?….That’s a stretch though.
