To clear things up...

Meteor - Small rocky or metallic object as it burns up in the atmosphere.

Meteorite - A meteor that sustains mass and makes contact with the ground.

@JobyFluorine Eruption.

@Comfortably_numb Yeah, very nice. 1984 was the sound track of the eighties and early '90s for me. G&R's Appetite For Destruction was right up there, and the first time I heard 'Patience' I was in the PX at Sand Hill in Fort Benning. I felt stoopid because I hadn't heard it yet and everyone else knew it.

The best guitar player that I've ever seen was Yngwie Malmsteen. That dude could shred, fr.

@JobyFluorine

Hell yeah! There's some Swedish quality guitar playing for you.

@JobyFluorine Burnt out?

I think that was a nickel slag meteor. I saw one light up the overcast sky at night once and have seen them during the daytime a few times.

3 +1 JobyFluorine 2 months ago

@QuartPlus8oz That makes sense. Nickel oxide is green. It was probably pretty big, too. I've never had three pleasure of seeing one. Just tiny white meteors once in a while.

@JobyFluorine Maybe that's why nickel sticks to copper in the chroming process so good.

2 +1 Comfortably_numb 2 months ago

@QuartPlus8oz copper?

2 +1 QuartPlus8oz 2 months ago

@Comfortably_numb Could be that too. Did not have my spectrometry handy!

Jet or helicopter, you can see the occasional flash of its marker lights.

2 +1 Comfortably_numb 2 months ago

@Bellybutton that's the most reasonable explanation.

Isn't it amazing that you can't pick your nose without someone or some machine filming it, but every single credible UFO touchdown on planet earth is lucky to be filmed at all, and even then, from at least five miles.

@MarGarTar Lol! Stop watching Joe Rogaine! :D :D :D
