A math teacher reading the actual emails parents send her about why their kids shouldn’t have to do homework… and it’s worse than you think.

One parent said she made their child miss lunch to finish math work and traumatized them. Another reported her to an outside mental health counselor. Another complained the homework was “too much” at the beginning of the year — even though many 7th graders came in years behind because of COVID and couldn’t even add fractions.

And then there was the parent who made her life miserable all year… only to turn around and complain when their child was failing.

Teachers literally cannot hold students accountable when parents will find every excuse in the book.

Honestly, you expect this kind of behavior from the students — not the parents. Parents are supposed to want their kids to succeed and exceed, not make excuses for why they shouldn’t have to try. What’s going on?

Assigning homework is fine, her forcing the child to skip lunch to do her math work is an obvious violation. The fact she does not see that as a problem is ridiculous.

She sounds like a teacher I'd want for my kids. The way schools are teaching kids now they're lucky breathing is an autonomous function or the kids would suffocate.

I don’t have young children myself, and I’m not American, but I’ve been watching for some time now as Americans keep making themselves dumber and dumber—it seemed like it couldn’t get any worse, but they’ve managed it. And it’s still going a bit further. Great job, a real masterpiece. Fucking inbreeding and redneckism—not to mention BLM, of course—are making sure the world laughs at you even more. These wonderful parents should take a look at what goes on in classrooms in Asia and, in some parts of Europe, and see the level of education there. I feel genuinely sorry for the teacher; she seems truly dedicated and is suffering under these conditions. Go to a private school—you’ll have idiotic parents there too, but at least you’ll earn more.
