a "Genius" driving the safety car pulled onto the track directly in front of the speeding race cars.

The driver of the Lada could have triggered a massive pile-up, but fortunately, disaster was averted. Several of the race cars sustained minor damage.

No reverse gear?

2 +1 Comfortably_numb 2 weeks ago

They should be assimilated by Mongolia; perhaps that will help them.

Doesn't that damn Lada have reverse??

6 +1 FacelessMen 2 weeks ago

@tommix1 LOL. Safety car driver should have drove forward to move off the "racing line" since he had enough time to do so. Instead, he stopped right on the racing line. He likely froze when he saw the race cars speeding straight toward him. LOL. But if you can't move off the "racing line", it is the safest to stay still and let the cars drive around you until there’s a clear gap to move again.

@FacelessMen most spectators are there for the crashes anyway.

3 +1 FacelessMen 2 weeks ago

@Comfortably_numb True. LOL. But I don’t think that Russian Lada would stand a chance in a collision. LOL.

Race vastly improved.

0 +1 Freakazoidalmaniac 2 weeks ago

In that case, putting the entrance of the pit lane so close to the fast exit of the corner was a bit of a mistake then eh?

@Freakazoidalmaniac Have you even been to a race track? Most race tracks are designed as multi-purpose circuits so they can host different kinds of racing vehicles and events. That means, the circuit changes depending on the racing vehicle and event. DO YOU NOT SEE THE EXTENSION OF THE RACE TRACK ON THE TOP OF THE VIDEO THAT IS NOT BEING USED FOR THIS EVENT? BOTTOM LINE, safety car does NOT move from station unless the race control deploys the safety car and once the safety car is deployed, drivers and the teams are notified to reduce speed and stop racing. Do you blame the pilot(s) for runway incursion if the ATC fails to communicate with the pilots?

Lada guy looks retarded or drunk.......

Now renamed Safety car with a dangerous prick driving it.

14 +1 FacelessMen 2 weeks ago

@Freakazoidalmaniac I've been to many races to know that the safety car ALWAYS waits in the pit lane during green-flag racing. When there is an accident, debris, or dangerous conditions, RACE CONTROL DEPLOYS the safety car onto the track FROM PIT EXIT to slow the field and neutralize the race. Also, when safety car is deployed, double yellow flag is waved to notify the drivers and then all race teams are communicated that the safety car is deployed. IF THE SAFETY CAR IS ON OR ENTERING THE TRACK DURING THE RACE, RACE CONTROL OFFICIALLY DEPLOYED IT. THIS IS A COMMUNICATION FAULT FROM RACE CONTROLLER, NOT THE SAFETY DRIVER.

@FacelessMen racing is full of pace/safety car mishaps, its a dangerous sport.

2 +1 FacelessMen 2 weeks ago

@Comfortably_numb Yeah, motorsport is dangerous. But modern formula race cars have made a huge advancement in safety with carbon-fiber monocoque and titanium halo. I recall, more than 70% of the F1 drivers didn't want the halo in the beginning but have proven to save several lives. Go watch Romain Grosjean's crash in 2020 Bahrain Grand Prix. It was a very bad crash. Race car split in half and burst into a massive fire. Grosjean was trapped in the fire for ~30 seconds before climbing out. Titanium halo saved his life.

@FacelessMen yea, that was something else.
