A nail or screw jammed in the nozzle holder so the auto shut-off supposedly doesn’t work. You start pumping, walk away, and it just keeps going. Your tank overflows while your money keeps rolling and the station wins

Plot twist for the democrats.
The pump ends the transaction when the pump is replaced, not when it's pulled out.
That flap not opening fully doesn't do a damn thing.

I’d honestly go to jail for what I’d do to the attendant. I’m getting RAPED for my time and money at every turn

u think the station workers would let their bowsers overflow all over the ground? Hardly.. maybe a disgruntled customer or just idiots fucking around....

"A nail or screw jammed in the nozzle holder so the auto shut-off supposedly doesn’t work. You start pumping, walk away, and it just keeps going. Your tank overflows while your money keeps rolling and the station wins"
This is complete BS, the auto shut-off is completely mechanical and in the nozzle.
A screw holding that flap up slightly only makes the pump think the nozzle is still seated rather than the other way around.

Almost bought a station in Georgia in 1989, then the profit per gallon was 12 cents for premium and 9 cents for regular. You must have another commodity at the station to make money, the gas sales barely pay the electric bill. U-haul kept this station afloat. 4th largest sales in the state= $10,000 per year, not a lot.

Around here it's rigged pumps. If you go where you suspect it's going on and get 5 regular then proceed to put it in a gas can it makes them nervous.

I saw one of these once at a gas station in the mid west. I had to take a screw driver out of my car and screw it the rest of the in to end the transaction. There was car sitting near by with someone in it, wasn't sure it was them or not tho.

Gas stations that are franchised owned should have to display and reveal they are a franchise.

Back in the days before Speedway purchased Convenient Stores, which were almost all franchised, I got gas at one when traveling on vacation and was out of state, it took 22+ gallons to fill my 16 gallon tank.

When inside to talk to the owner to get a refund, no dice. He was rude about it. Wrote down where it was and was going to write a letter to the State's attorney general, but lost the paper before we got home.

This crap is why I always get a receipt when I finish pumping.

@Cripple I had a similar experience at a Texaco in Bakersfield, but that was maybe 17 years ago. I pulled in with about an 1/8 of a tank and proceeded to pump a gallon more than the tank's capacity. Utter BS. I just chalked it up to one of life's less desirable experiences.

1) Why would it begin pumping if it thinks it's still handled?

2) How does it offer a receipt then run more ? :ermm:

@ScreaminMime "Why would it begin pumping if it thinks it's still handled"
Excellent observation, the screw would make it think the nozzle is still in the pump rather than make the pump think the nozzle is still pumping and not finish the transaction.
Another BS video

No what he is trying to say is it doesnt end the transaction, they can walk up after u pull away and keep pumping on ur dime. How do you confidently explain something so incorrectly?

@GulliblestartswithN
How can they keep pumping on your dime if you get a receipt which ends the transaction?
