Though Israel has a formal declaration with NATO, it cannot become a member. We don't have any formal military bases in Israel. We do have a few small military installations.
We have a Non-NATO Alliance agreement with Israel.

Why? Because it is a valuable positioning for anything military we may need as far as being allowed to have a military presense in a non-Nato ally.

The same reason we have bases in Japan, South Korea, Australia, etc. None of which are NATO. But give the USA an ability to do either defensive or offensive military actions or reactions.

US does NOT have military base in Israel and US troop presence in Israel is extremely minimal and only there for specialized operations. US has large bases and troops in Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, and Bahrain. US is there to protect its interests and project global power.
