The incident involved a 50-year-old male suspect, identified as Anroop Parasram, who forced his way into a basement apartment armed with a knife.

As officers arrived at the residence around and attempted to open the front door, a powerful explosion erupted, believed to be triggered by the suspect.

The blast knocked the officers off their feet, launching some into a metal fence, resulting in minor burns, lacerations, and hospitalization for 8 officers.

The suspect was believed to be inside the collapsed basement apartment and unaccounted for, with officials stating he likely died in the blast.
