ALERT: Helicopter rescues a tree trimmer from the top of a tree after he suffers a medical emergency and fell unconscious.

A tree trimmer working in San Jose suffered a medical emergency, leaving him unconscious and stuck on top of the tree.

Unable to help from the ground, the San Jose Fire Department called in a Cal Fire helicopter to help rescue the man.

Assistant Fire Chief James Dobson stated, “This is the first time they have done an aerial pick off of a tree of this type. We are typically able to gain access from our aerial apparatus so this is a unique event.”

After about an hour, the man was cut free and lowered to the ground.

He was conscious during transport but in serious condition, according to authorities.
