The bunny as a symbol of the bringer of eggs came about from a pagan story where mother nature (Hanna, if you will) was unable to distribute the springtime eggs to the all the birds as she always had, so she asked the rabbits to do it. They accomplished the task so quickly and well that they were given the task every year thereafter. As usual, the catholic church came along and hijacked the springtime celebration to fit their agenda.
