@Cripple Yup, exactly. I have several 1911s and people who have never shot them before gets surprised at the trigger. And of course, never put your finger on the trigger unless you are ready to shoot.

@L.X You would be surprised how often people joke around with firearms. And 1911s have hair triggers that require very little pressure to fire.

@FacelessMen I think to load, rack and point it directly at your heart, then smile and pull the trigger is no accident. But I hear ya with those 1911s - I don't like carrying that gun simply because the hammer has to be cocked. Well that and the weight. Granted I'm a person who has MS on every firearm, so maybe I'm just a big pussy lol.

@tommix1 That's for the OVERTRAVEL and has NOTHING to do with the "PRE-TRAVEL", crispness of the break, or the pull weight.

@Clappincheeks2knight I have handled many 1911s from vintage Colts to Springfields to Dan Wessons to even cheap Rock Islands and SAMs. I have NEVER experienced a heavy trigger pull from all the 1911s that I have handled. There is a huge difference in mechanically that makes the single-action, straight-pull triggers to have much better crisp breaks due to direct sear/hammer engagement, a lighter trigger pulls because the trigger does not fight the spring and just releases the hammer, and less pre-travel from direct trigger-to-sear linkage. There is no comparison to the striker-fired, pivoting trigger even if you have it tuned by the gunsmith.
