Between December 5, 2025, and January 6, 2026, nine burglaries and damage to property incidents occurred at churches and daycares in Zone 1 and Zone 4.

Between December 5, 2025, and January 6, 2026, nine burglaries and damage to property incidents occurred at churches and daycares in Zone 1 and Zone 4.

 

During the investigations, investigators located multiple videos from security cameras capturing the crimes and the recovered videos ultimately led to a suspect being identified.

 

Lookouts for the suspect were sent out department wide.

 

On January 19, 2026, Zone 4 officers patrolling near 3144 Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. SW saw a person matching the description of the suspect. Upon immediate sight of the officers, the suspect attempted to flee. After a short foot pursuit, officers were able to catch up with the suspect, and he began to physically resist officers. Officers were able to ultimately take the suspect into custody.

 

The suspect was identified as 32-year-old Arkeam McDowell.
