Residents captured videos Tuesday evening of at least half a dozen MH-47 Chinooks from the Army's 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment conducting routine low-level night training near Joint Base San Antonio. Sightings stretched north toward Austin, including Leander, where groups of six to 10 helicopters passed overhead—a scale that stood out despite similar past activity in Military City USA. Separately, a Dallas-area bomb squad safely disposed of unstable picric acid from an antique item, with no connection to the flights or any threats, though rumors briefly swirled online.
