SANTIAGO, Chile – At least four people were killed when a truck transporting liquid gas in Chile’s capital Santiago overturned and exploded, the authorities said on Feb 19.

 

Another 17 people were injured, a police chief told reporters at a press conference, saying the driver of the truck had lost control and crashed.

 

The authorities said the truck driver was among those who died in the incident

A propane cloud will spread until it finds a source of ignition, then it all goes up. There have been lots of people in oil refineries killed exactly like that. In the early 1990's a guy was burned alive in the refinery I worked for because of a propane cloud fire. Because of his death, all people working in the chemical and oil industry in the US have to wear fire retardant clothing.
