I spent 3 weeks in the hospital due to a spider bite. Thankfully I survived and workers comp and my employer covered the cost. The cost was about $100,000 a week.
The hospital billed just over 300k for 20 days of care. I asked for detailed billing so I could see why the cost was so high. They were charging $156 for a single band-aid. A single 500mg Tylenol pill was $400
After I was released, my physical therapy consisted of a heating pad and some simple hand exercises. Two sessions a week with each visit lasting only 20 minutes. They were charging several thousand dollars per visit.
The infectious disease Doctor I saw billed my employer/workers comp nearly $30,000 and they paid. Then the Doctor billed them again and they said they already paid, so he turned around and billed me. I directed him back to workers comp. Case was then closed... for a month, then he billed me again. I contacted the case manager from my company and sent them the bills the Dr sent me. They said it's already paid and not to worry about it.
A month later I was billed again with threat of legal action. This went on 6 more times before I told that indian Dr I would be paying him a visit personally if I received another bill.
When I did get billed again, I showed up at his new rented office. The place was disorganized and rather dirty and the Dr's wife was there playing office manager while watching several kids (not theirs) and she was on the phone telling a customer that her office also does taxes and public notary services.
I handed them written proof that my company had already paid them and made it very clear that I would be taking them to court if they sent me another bill. I then reported them to the hospital and they lost their rented office that same week due to a serious lack of sanitation and running several non-medical related businesses out of an active healthcare facility. The wife was even cooking in the office and selling the food to other medical staff in the hospital. Turns out it's illegal to use a propane stove around oxygen tanks in a medical facility.

“This isn’t healthcare. It’s sick care. A system built to profit off people — and it’s working exactly as designed.”/
Why cure illness when you can treat symptoms?
One of them only pays once.
