I was involved in a shooting on my land this morning. I'm home from my OSBI/Sheriff interview and so far they are declining charges. I have been released and am home safe.
Early this morning I came into contact with a small car and a man inside who had just been masterbating on my land and doing dope. He admitted openly offering too much information at times. I helped him turn around and sent him on his way, took video to get license plates and document the trespass for filings. I didn't get the chance.
Later the same morning around 9/10 ish, I came out and he was back. This time more aggressive and strung out. This time when I asked him to leave, he tried to run me over with his car and I shot him.
I performed first aid and applied a tourniquet to his wound seeing that is was pretty bad. I got him a chair and helped him to sit and began to talk until help arrived or so I thought. Suddenly he jumps up and tried to grab my rifle and I had to shoot him again.
I never want to hurt people, contraire to popular belief. I try to help more than hurt. This time I had no choice. The videos show that and the investigators agree. I made sure he was okay and he was med flight out and in stable condition when he left.
The investigation is still pending and so that's all I can really say but I'm thankful God let me live today and him. I'll be recluse a bit as this has brought back more overseas memories and feelings. I just ask for your support and understanding. Please be safe out there and never leave home unarmed. Had I not been I would still be laying there where he would've ran me over and left and it would have been a week or more before anyone knew. Please be safe. Know the laws. It's important."

Don't call 911 until they are dead, they don't come back then and you don't have to wait for it. Use a .12 GA. if practical so one shot is enough, easier to justify.

Without the facts it's hard to say why/what really happened.
But from what I see, dude's lucky he didn't get ventilated sooner. Nonetheless, he was determined to end his life over what seems like bitterness. Hope he got his way.
