A terrifying scene unfolded on Sunday when a frantic mother ran into the street carrying her choking child, begging anyone nearby for help as the child was choking and struggled to breathe. Bystanders immediately rushed to assist. One person took the child and attempted to help while another quickly called hatzalah EMS. In less than 30 seconds, a hatzalah EMT was already on scene and immediately began performing the Heimlich maneuver, working quickly to clear the child’s airway. Within moments, the obstruction was dislodged and the child was able to breathe again.
