According to KSAT Investigates, Sgt. Daniel Contreras, a 31-year veteran of the San Antonio Police Department, was seen on video placing an opposing coach in a headlock and later exchanging punches with parents. The altercation occurred just before 7 p.m. at St. Matthew Catholic Church’s gymnasium in the 10700 block of Wurzbach Road. Sources told KSAT the game was between St. Matthew and St. Peter the Apostle of Boerne and involved girls under the age of 10. Video shows Contreras and the other coach were assessed technical fouls during the game. After being ejected for making contact with the coach, the confrontation escalated outside the gym. Footage captures Contreras placing the coach in a headlock and later being pushed to the ground by intervening parents as children can be heard crying in the background. The video then shows punches being exchanged between Contreras and another adult. Additional video shows the off-duty sergeant confronting a woman before being escorted away from the scene by another man. SAPD said that officers responded to the location but did not make any arrests because there was no complainant on scene willing to file a report. A department spokesperson said officials were unaware an off-duty sergeant was involved until contacted by reporters. The San Antonio Police Department has opened an internal investigation. The Catholic Youth Organization of the Archdiocese of San Antonio also confirmed it has launched a separate review.

Former Florida Corrections Officer Being Investigated for At-Home Discipline of Stepdaughter

Florida correctional officer Mario Grier was captured on home surveillance video in Sanford violently grabbing and slamming his 9‑year‑old stepdaughter onto a car hood in front of other children. In the footage, the child’s aunt, Leondra Chapman, sees what happened and immediately confronted him upon her arrival. Sanford Police say they took a report, interviewed the family, and turned the case over to the State Attorney’s Office, which is now reviewing the video and other evidence to determine possible charges. This man should be arrested immediately, fired from any correctional or law‑enforcement position, and kept away from this 9‑year‑old girl and her siblings. UPD: Florida State Attorneys are preparing to investigate a case after video surfaced of Mario Grier disciplining his nine year old stepdaughter. Sanford Police released a statement, “Had the family been on scene when officers arrived, an immediate arrest could have been made.” Grier is no longer employed with FDC as of February 17th and is under a criminal investigation.

How does this happen?
