On July 12, 2024, Los Angeles Police arrested 31-year-old Malcolm Guss Jr., charging him with attempted murder of a peace officer, assault with a machine gun upon a peace officer, shooting at an occupied motor vehicle, possession of a machine gun, and possession of firearms by a felon.

Police seized a Chevrolet sedan and a firearm believed to be involved in the crime.

Guss was booked on $2,000,000 bail. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of life in prison.
