WARNING: GRAPHIC CONTENT Body cam footage released Thursday by the Okaloosa County (Fla.) Sheriff's Office shows a deputy shooting 23-year-old Air Force Airman Roger Fortson at a Fort Walton Beach-area apartment complex last Friday, who later died from his wounds at an area hospital.

Decorated U.S. Air Force senior airman shot to death by the police after they allegedly barged into the wrong house.

23-year-old Roger Fortson died in a Florida hospital after getting shot 6 times.

Fortson was on a FaceTime when he got a knock at the door. When Fortson went to the door and asked who was there, no one responded.

There was another aggressive knock on the door according to the woman on the other side of the FaceTime call.

Fortson then looked through the peep hole and didn't see anyone.

Out of caution, he retrieved his legally owned firearm.

After he returned to the living room, police knocked down the front door and shot him 6 times out of "self-defense."

Police were reportedly responding to a "disturbance" and knocked on the wrong door. The woman on the other side of the call said Fortson had not disturbed anyone.

"He just came back from deployment from fighting for us. With everything we got going on in our country, he's fighting for us and he came back to be murdered, slain like that so violently," his mother said.

"He was my gift, and they took my gift away. And they didn't give it to me. God gave me that gift... and they took my gift away."

«Rule number 1 keep your door locked and dont open the door to anyone you didn't invite. Someone trying break through the door take proper cover and open fire until the threat is neutralized.»

«The national news said the officer did not announce himself, clearly he did more than once. Who answers a door for police with a gun in their? Thats like trying to tongue kiss a cobra.»

«So, do all of you opposite of left talk trash on the military like trump?, who cares, anywho, if you can't see out of your frony door, install a camera, ..., why was the cop hiding from being identified through the peephole?, he hid & stayed silent, lol, cops are not supposed to act like that, that's not anything taught at an Academy, announce your presence, then go hide, & stay silent, lmao, nobody noticed so it seems, someone will, eventually, cop's aren't supposed to be sneaky, & trick you like a prankster, doesn't mean go get a gun to me, but some people are going too, there is a lot wrong with this, with how quiet the whole building is, he didn't have to check anything,»

«Shoot first and then tell the guy to drop the gun. What a joke. This guy never brandished the firearm in an improper way (displayed in a rude, threatening, careless, or angry manner), especially within his property, to justify for this cop to shoot. Very unfortunate. Best move is not to answer the door if it is the police knocking since nothing good will come if you open the door.»

2 +1 Happyman71 2 months ago

«@Lawlstat No, it was the 4th floor. The cop went to Apt. 1401. Elevator is fucked.»

0 +1 explicit_issue 2 months ago

«@Happyman71 Elevator said 3rd floor, in fact it was the 4th. However it was still the wrong apt. Stupid layout and numbering, led to the leo going to 'E' 1401, so I guess there is a west wing 'W 1401'»

He had a gun in his hands. When people are pounding on the door yelling "police, come to the door!" you don't do it with a fucking gun in your hands.
