Prices compared to one year ago are up at a minimum 50% on all products at my local grocery stores and Costco."

Costco shopper Tom Collins shared a TikTok video highlighting the impact of inflation on prices in the store, with some products increasing by as much as 50%. He points out that these price hikes are well above the 7% inflation rate reported by the US Labor Department.

The affected items are mainly bulk products like butter and flour. Viewers speculated on the reasons for these price increases, including supply chain issues and vendor-driven costs. Costco has not responded to the situation.

«IMO- It’s a very simple concept. Capitalism promotes the idea that money=happiness and everything else is a distant secondary and in some cases banned or terminated in the name of capitalism (ex. Inuit potlucks in Alaska, Kingdom of Hawaii). Theyll raise minimum wage to 500/hr if thats what gets people where they want them, accounted for and working. People were fuckin stoked when the minimum wage went up to15/hr. I saw those same people at ALDI not too long ago looking at eggs and milk, trying to decide which one there gonna get because it doesnt matter if you make 15/hr or 1500/hr at the minimum when eggs are 93 bucks a carton, milk is 138, and gas… well.. hope that mouth works.»

«And to make it even worse they underweigh what they are selling. For example a little container of watermelon slices that says "net weight 285 grams" is actually 220 when you take it home and weigh the slices. So on top of the price being badly inflated you're also not getting what you paid for.»
