On June 30, 2023 in Florida, Deputy Mott was on beach patrol when he was flagged down by beachgoers concerning a dog not being on a leash. The loose dog had bitten other dogs, and several people were trying to put its leash back on. When the deputy got close to the group, the dog's owner was in an agitated state, yelling at those around her to leave her dog alone. Deputy Mott tried to escort the woman away from the group, but she began to resist his efforts. This is footage of the events that followed.
