Craighead County District Judge Tommy Fowler found probable cause to charge Jerry Cornealious Brown with fleeing, possession of a controlled substance, driving with a suspended license, failure to appear, an out-of-town warrant and reckless driving. On Sunday, June 7, at 8:17 a.m., a Jonesboro police officer conducted a vehicle stop on South Culberhouse Street when the driver quickly left near the Burke Avenue and South Culberhouse Street area. “Officers noted observing the vehicle run stops signs and going around another vehicle at ahigh rate of speed with disregard to public safety in [the] residential area,” the affidavit stated. Police went to Nisbett Street after learning the vehicle was registered to someone on that street. When they arrived, police saw the vehicle parked in a gravel parking lot behind an apartment. Eyewitnesses told police that Brown was seen running from the area. Police arrested Brown shortly after finding him. The affidavit also Brown had .088 ounces of suspected marijuana in his pocket. “Officers also noted Brown making the statement he believed he had a warrant as a reason for fleeing,” the affidavit added. During an area search where the arrest happened, Jonesboro K9 Officer Rocky scaled a fence. Jonesboro Police Officer Zach Hobbs tried lifting Rocky back over to his side of the fence. The dog may have been scraped and yelped during that attempt and began biting Officer Hobbs, according to a police release. Officer Hobbs suffered multiple bite wounds to both arms and his upper right thigh before going to a local hospital. On Monday, June 8, Officer Hobbs and Rocky reunited. Rocky was happy to see him, according to the release. Fowler set Brown’s bond at $50,000 cash surety. Brown’s next court date is scheduled for July 30.

Violent Barricaded Suspect, K-9 Bite

K-9 don't mess around

Deputies with the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Palm Coast man following a domestic disturbance investigation Sunday night that escalated into a barricade situation and ended with one suspect in custody and FCSO K-9 Titan taking his first bite out of crime.

Deputies responded to a home in the R Section of Palm Coast around 10:00 p.m. after the Emergency Communications Center received a 9-1-1 call from a distraught victim reporting that Ilia Javoronkov, 43, of Palm Coast, was hurting them. The driver refused to pull over, and a pursuit was initiated throughout the east Olympia area. The driver eventually pulled into a known drug compound and attempted to flee on foot. K9 Asher was sent on a direct take, successfully capturing the suspect. The K9 kept the suspect apprehended until a backup unit could apply handcuffs and ensure there were no weapons under the suspect where his hands were bunched up. The K9 was inadvertently kicked by the suspect, at which point the dog reengaged before being pulled off the bite as the suspect was detained. The driver showed signs of impairment, and there was a considerable amount of drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. A search warrant was authorized to seize the drug paraphernalia from the car and obtain two vials of blood from the suspect to be sent to the crime lab for testing. The suspect was treated at the hospital and booked into TCSO jail for attempting to elude, DUI, and possession of drug paraphernalia. No charges were filed for harming a police dog, as it was not believed that the suspect intentionally intended to kick K9 Asher. Impaired drivers traveling nearly triple the speed limit are an imminent threat to the safety of our community, great work by our deputies to intervene before this driver killed someone.

Good Boy: DPS K-9 Tracks Down Illegal Immigrants Hiding On Private Ranch In Maverick Co.

On Jan. 11, 2026, DPS K-9 Bona and her handler completed a two-mile track in Maverick Co. to locate and apprehend three illegal immigrants who tried to evade capture on a private ranch.
