Atlanta police have released body camera footage showing the arrest of a 71-year-old babysitter accused in the death of 3-year-old Armani Lyons. Officers went to an apartment on Landrum Drive just before 8:15 p.m. Monday to find a wanted person. Video shows Barbara Edwards coming to the door before being handcuffed and led to a patrol car. Edwards is charged with felony murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and cruelty to children. Police say Lyons was shot in the head while in her care on April 5 at an apartment complex on Washington Street SW. Authorities are still searching for Edward's son, Jermaine Hardman, who faces the same charges. Police are also looking for a third unidentified person who was allegedly at the apartment the night of the shooting. Investigators are still working to determine the exact circumstances that led to the child's death. ATLANTA, Ga. — A Gwinnett County man was arrested for allegedly assaulting his elderly mother, police said. Police said officers responded to a home on March 15 after receiving reports of a man who pushed his mother and pulled another person’s hair out. When the officer arrived, the man said he had just smoked marijuana. Kehma Johnson, 31, “was acting erratically, making odd statements, and then suddenly charged,” police said. A neighbor said Johnson had pulled out some of her hair. The officer hit Johnson with a Taser, but Johnson continued fighting officers until being taken to jail. ATLANTA, Ga.— Cobb County police are trying to find who is responsible after two shopping center storefronts were smashed in on Thursday morning. Officers were called to Hawthorne Plaza off Veterans Memorial Highway in Mableton at around 6:50 a.m. The front of a Family Dollar and a coin laundry facility had broken front windows and heavy structural damage. Security footage shows two people dressed in all black smashing the back of a U-Haul truck into one of the storefronts, loading the ATM into the back. Police said the suspects removed an ATM from each business but only got away with one. The driver attempted to flee the stop but was quickly taken into custody. A female passenger was also taken into custody. During the investigation, officers recovered 224 grams of marijuana, 8 bottles of promethazine, a loaded Glock firearm, and 87 oxycodone pills. The suspects were identified as 28-year-old Tyquavius Lawrence and 24-year-old Summer Butler. ATLANTA — A man who tried to use a fake firearm to commit a crime was arrested in Atlanta, according to the Atlanta Police Department. In a Facebook post, the department said Zone 3 officers responded to a pedestrian robbery at 595 Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard SW. They say a suspect pointed a firearm at the victim and robbed them of their wallet. Officers say they quickly reviewed surveillance footage of the incident and identified the suspect, 28-year-old Qwantavis McClure, who was located nearby after police canvassed the area. He was taken into custody. A prop firearm was also located during the investigation, which police believe McClure used to conduct the armed robbery. Atlanta officers who were working an approved off-duty side job at a nightclub in the 300 block of Edgewood Avenue SE were standing outside just before 2:40 a.m. on Feb. 14 when they noticed a fight inside the club. Security staff escorted Andre Anthony, 34, outside. Anthony’s brother was with him and told police that he had been jumped inside. His brother tried to calm him down, but Anthony allegedly refused and continued saying he was going to "shoot people up," while intoxicated, police said. Anthony then walked to his car and pulled out a gun, according to police body cam video. Officers drew their weapons and told him to drop the gun. Anthony complied and was arrested.
