The victim was taken to a hospital in critical condition and later died from his injuries, police said. His identity has not been released. Police detained 54-year-old Jonathan Hamby in connection with the stabbing. Investigators do not believe Hamby and the victim knew each other. Hamby has been arrested more than 30 times, including in cases involving possession of a knife and aggravated assault, according to records. Police said he is on active probation following an aggravated assault case in Brookhaven. Court records from DeKalb County show Hamby pleaded guilty in 2024 to carrying a weapon within a school safety zone. He was initially sentenced to 10 years, with two years to be served in custody and the remaining eight years on probation, records show. Records show Hamby did not complete required anger management and a mental health evaluation in 2025. Police said they have not ruled out whether mental health played a role in the stabbing.

Atlanta officers rescue kidnapped sisters from sweltering trailer

Dramatic body camera video shows police in Georgia cutting into a windowless trailer and rescuing two young sisters who had been reported missing days earlier. Officers with the Atlanta Police Department found the 4-year-old girl and her 11-month-old sister Monday after hearing a child crying inside the trailer, police said. Both children were in good health and have been reunited with their mother. Police arrested 42-year-old Lakesha Brown, an acquaintance of the children’s mother who had been babysitting them. Brown was charged with kidnapping and ordered held without bond, authorities said. The children's disappearance prompted an Amber Alert. The girls’ mother, Elecia Redding, told police Brown had agreed to watch the children while Redding went to dinner Saturday. When Redding returned, she was unable to reach Brown and reported her daughters missing. Redding said she met Brown about a year ago through an online group for mothers. Brown had posted that she offered free services to expectant mothers, and the two later became friends. “She became a family friend from when I first met her on a mom group,” Redding said. “After that, we just started hanging and stuff.” “The mother thought she was leaving her children in the care of someone she could trust,” Atlanta police Lt. Christapher Butler said. Police said a tip from someone at an apartment complex helped investigators locate Brown and the girls. The investigation led officers to the trailer Monday. After hearing a child crying inside, police cut their way in, removed both children and took Brown into custody. Butler said Brown had indicated she would return the children, but that information “turned out to be not factual.” Atlanta police said Brown was charged in Alabama in 2021 with kidnapping a 4-day-old baby. Authorities said she also had an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court in that case.

Dairy Queen drive-thru customer seen throwing soda at employee

Police are investigating after a customer was caught on camera attacking a manager at a Powder Springs Dairy Queen on Tuesday. Officers responded to Delta gate D36 after receiving reports about a dispute between an intoxicated passenger, who was denied boarding Delta Flight DL1295 to Fort Lauderdale. Video shows an officer arriving at the gate, where he encounters Poirier, who is visibly agitated, yelling and cursing at Delta staff. Poirier can be seen calling the staff liars and using other expletives. When the officer asked if he was Dustin Poirier, the UFC fighter responded, "F*** you," and tried to fight him. "I'll fight you right now," Poirier told the officer, who declined the offer and began backing away from the fighter. "I don't want to fight," the officer responded. Poirier continued to taunt the officer, who is seen grabbing his taser gun. Other officers arrived on the scene, and after repeated verbal outbursts and an aggressive stance toward officers, "Poirier stated, "If you want to arrest me, then go ahead." "Arrest me. That's the best way, dog," Poirier said. He was taken into custody and transported to Clayton County Jail, where he was charged with public intoxication.

Atlanta PD beating and arresting a man for not walking out of a street quick enough

Another person has been assaulted on the public marta train in Atlanta

Witnesses say 3 black males began kicking, punching, and beating another black male.
