The girl herself informed the police after she hacked her father Abdur Sattar (56) to death by mixing sleeping pills with rice at his home in the municipality area of Savar. The incident took place at around 4 am on Thursday at Abdul Kader's house in Majidpur Kathalbagan area of Ward No. 7 of the municipality. Police arrived in the morning and arrested the girl.

Then a video went viral. In the video, the girl Jannat Jahan Shifa is seen talking about rape in front of her father's bloody body. She claims that she was raped repeatedly and threatened to make the video viral. She is also seen repeatedly hitting her father's body with a blood-stained knife. In the video, the girl alleges that her father used to commit crimes with many others besides her. He used to make videos.
