LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police released body camera footage and 911 calls Wednesday from a police shooting in the city's Camp Taylor neighborhood last month.
Officers were responding to a 911 call at a home on Lincoln Avenue, in a neighborhood off Poplar Level Road near Interstate 264, just after 10:30 p.m. April 26, when the shooting happened.
LMPD said Wednesday the daughter of Daniel Gish, 55, called 911 and said her dad was extremely intoxicated, got a gun and put it to his head. He also fired a shot onto the floor.
Once on scene, police said they found Gish intoxicated in the driveway with a gun to his head. The body camera footage shows armed officers approach Gish outside and tell him to drop the gun several times. Deputy Chief Ryan Bates said in a statement after the shooting the man was "obviously distraught."
