Two assailants killed seven Israelis in a stabbing and shooting attack in Jaffa near the light rail on Tuesday night, Israeli police said. Police said 16 people were injured in the attack, which took place right before Iran launched a barrage of missiles into Israel.
The two attackers entered a light rail train carriage that had made a stop and opened fire on passengers, police said. They continued attacking pedestrians on foot until they were “neutralized” by security forces and civilians, the police said in a statement. One of the attackers was killed, and another critically wounded. Israel’s military and security agency said they arrested several suspects in the Hebron and Jerusalem areas that they believed aided the attackers.
