Those are weight activated. If you look, you'll see it is scrap metal being compressed.
So when he stepped inside, the machine was triggered by his body weight.
One just has to think he had a huge "brain fart" when he stepped in to clear the scrap.»

«@Cripple Not weight, optical sensor matrix. He blocked at least 3 with his body and scrap he moved. The machine can do small loads also, as long they are distributed over the bottom of the compactor. He did not understand at all how the compactor operates.»

«@essence25 Yep, could be, both are used. The ones I dealt with were weight activated. It was scrap plastic in a packaging company. Though, they were set at 105 lbs for crushing, if the sensor felt a quick increase that was over 120 lbs, the system shut down. Both for safety reasons in case somebody fell in, the other reason was to make sure too much scrap wasn't added all at once and overloaded the pit.
All cubes had to be nearly the same weight.»
