On the morning of Tuesday, September 3, Sergeant Davi Appel da Silva, 37, of the Military Police of Criciúma, was killed during a routine approach in the city center. The crime occurred around 11:45 am, on Tuiuti Street, when the police officer was surprised by a suspect who, upon being approached, took his weapon and fired shots.

The tragic moment was captured by security cameras from a nearby building, which showed the suspect running towards the police vehicle, disarming the sergeant and shooting at him. After the shots, the criminal also struck the police officer with his own weapon.
