But asking a man for a divorce in front of the entire neighborhood (likely in a very patriarchal society) is significant humiliation, most women with half a brain can understand this right? All I'm saying is, pick your battles carefully or end up dead in the street because you pissed off the wrong person (with a gun) on the wrong day.»

«@Chris.P.Bacon So according to the news report, they started divorce proceedings 2 years ago and this last argument regarding taking care of the children was the last straw. Again, not a justification for murder but if I were her I would've kept far away from the psycho as much as possible and otherwise only with numerous male company in tow. And if this is really how all Turkish men are then women should either not marry or at the very least heavily vet the guy before doing so. Why are all these women trying to divorce and what 'honor' is trying to be upheld by the men? This seems to be a result of the clash between modern vs traditional customs.»
