A heated altercation unfolded on the streets of Melbourne over the weekend, involving a Sydney Swans supporter and anti-Israel protesters.
The incident, captured on video, shows the AFL fan being confronted by demonstrators near a Melbourne pub, among whom was Hash Tayeh, the controversial owner of Burgertory.
Tayeh, who has previously made headlines for alleging his home was targeted in a hate crime, was involved in a similar incident when his Burgertory business was attacked.
The confrontation took place on Sunday during a 'Free Palestine' Rally, where protesters marched from the State Library to the Victorian Parliament House.
In footage shared on TikTok, the Swans supporter, wearing the team's scarf, can be seen engaging with a protester before tensions escalate. Despite efforts to calm the situation, the supporter faced aggression from the group, even after expressing some agreement with their cause.
As the situation intensified, bystanders intervened to prevent further conflict, with a pub staffer stepping in to restrain one of the protesters.
The video captures the chaotic scene as the Swans supporter seeks refuge inside the venue, while the protesters attempt to pursue him.
The incident, occurring prior to the Swans' match against Hawthorn at the MCG, has sparked controversy online.
