Tsai, who was involved in organized crime activities, was trying to prove that the gun, which he had been working on, was not operational. However, after a first failed shooting attempt, he put the gun to his forehead and pulled the trigger again, resulting in his fatal shooting. The scene was recorded by a camera in the room and the video quickly spread online, adding a disturbing element to the already grim narrative.

Tsai's wife, alerted by the gunshot, found her husband seriously injured and although she immediately called emergency services, Tsai was pronounced dead shortly afterwards at a local hospital. His and his children, witnesses to the event, showed a reaction of shock and panic before fleeing the scene.
