Shocking body camera footage shows the disturbing moment a Tennessee Sheriff's Deputy was shot and killed by a man who refused to get out of his car during a traffic stop.
Blount County Sheriff Deputy Greg McCowan, 43, was shot dead after tasing a man who was pulled over for erratic driving on February 8.
McCowan - who is a father and grandfather - and Deputy Shelby Eggers pulled over Kenneth Wayne DeHart Jr. who was driving an SUV in the 4900 block of Sevierville Road in Maryville around 8:30 p.m.
The video shows McCowan using his taser on DeHart, 42, after he refused to comply with the deputies and DeHart is heard screaming and writhing in pain.
While being tased, DeHart slammed his door shut, pointed his gun out the window and shot both officers.
Dashcam footage shows DeHart firing an additional shot before driving away and he is heard saying, 'I told you motherf******s.'
McCowan immediately fell after being shot at close range and Eggers, 22, retreated to her patrol car.
Eggers initially pulled DeHart over and told him he was driving on the wrong side of the road.
She asked him to step out of the vehicle because she suspected him of smoking marijuana.
DeHart denied smoking marijuana and said he was in his grandmother's car driving home from his son's high school sports game. He told the deputy he was tying up his hair and did not notice his car swerving.
'I'm black and they just being nasty... I'm refusing,' DeHart said to his grandmother, who he was on the phone with when Eggers asked him to get out of the car.
'They just pulled me over for no reason, they see my f*****g hair pulled up, I'm black with dreads and they pulling this mess for no reason.'
The deputy explained there is no refusing the search and if she smells marijuana she has probable cause to search the vehicle.
'This is racism,' DeHart said when McCowan told him to listen to Eggers orders.
'I don't care what color you are dude, she gave you a lawful command,' McCowan said.
The deputies repeatedly told him to get out of the car and DeHart refused, insisting he did nothing wrong.
'I'm recording this... I was not on the wrong side of the road,' DeHart said.
'I didn't do nothing, please don't do this to me,' DeHart said after they tasered him for the first time.
It was then as police continued to tase him, and DeHart continued to shut the door, that he pulled a gun out and pointed it through the window and shot at the cops.
Eggers was shot in the leg and footage shows she attempted to put a tourniquet on herself. McCowan was taken to the hospital, where he died from his injuries.
McCowan is survived by his fiancé Leah Lane, two children and one granddaughter. McCowan began his career in law enforcement in 2020 after graduating from a training class and was commended in 2021 for helping save the life of a man trapped in a burning vehicle.

«Typical cops… act irratical but expect calmness and subordination from their victims. Cry harder… I don't feel sorry at all. American pig cops deserve this. Maybe not death, but a big scare.
Saw a vid of german cops giving it hard to some muslims, which feels hard to feel sorry for them, but they kicked and punched one guy in a circle of 4 and kept commanding him to lay down.

That woman could have done many things differently, but her last opportunity was once the other cop had been shot… should’ve lit that suspect vehicle up like xmas. Slidelock, reload, slidelock, reload, retrieve rifle/12ga and dump a few more rounds into the vehicle upon approach, and once she had visual confirmation of the political puppet being incapacitated she should have rendered aide and radioed it in.
But I guess crying behind your car while the suspect finishes off your buddy is just as good.»

«Although not shown on this shorter video the female officer was very polite and professional when this incident began, but the POS wants to cause trouble so she calls for backup and the second officer arrives. Both are again professional and ask numerous times for him to step out of the vehicle, but the trash will not comply so they are forced to try to remove him.»
