This happened in Stillwater, Oklahoma, involving Chasity Dawn Carey, a bail bondsman, and her client, Brandon James Williams. The series of events leading to the tragic outcome began with Carey's professional obligation. She had previously paid a $35,000 bond for Williams related to burglary and marijuana charges stemming from his arrest in July.
On August 9, 2017, Carey devised a plan to revoke Williams' bond and take him into custody. She lured Williams to her office under the pretext of buying his car for her son. Unbeknownst to Williams, Carey intended to arrest him and return him to the Payne County Sheriff's Office. A GoPro camera, set up by Carey's son, recorded the unfolding events in the office. As Carey attempted to arrest Williams, a struggle ensued. Carey claimed that Williams tried to escape through a balcony window and, in a supposed act of self-defense, she shot him. Williams was found dead on the balcony outside an emergency exit of the office building.
