On November 5, 2023, a 56-year-old sergeant of the Military Police (PM) was gravely injured while attempting to rappel from a bridge in the district of Santo Hilário, Pimenta, in the western region of Minas Gerais, Brazil.
The sergeant, whose identity was not disclosed, failed to properly secure the support rope, leading to a severe fall. He collided with a rock wall and a bridge pillar, resulting in a rib fracture, pneumothorax, leg abrasions, and a crushed left arm.
He was initially taken to the Santa Casa hospital in Pimenta and later transferred to Santa Casa de Saúde in Piumhi for further treatment. His condition was reported as serious
