HOUSTON – Two Aldine Independent School District students and a bus driver were attacked by an unleased pit bull at a bus stop in northwest Harris County, according to the district.
The attack happened on Wednesday morning near 3648 Breckenridge Dr.
District officials said, upon arrival, the bus driver saw the pit bull biting the students at the bus stop and honked the bus horn in an attempt to scare the dog away. The driver tried to get the students on the bus, but the dog was able to get onto the bus for a short period of time and attack the driver.
Aldine ISD Police Department responded to the scene to investigate and EMS provided medical treatment as needed.
According to the district, the two students and driver were taken to local hospitals for further assessment.
Harris County Animal Control also responded after the scene was cleared by law enforcement. When the ACO arrived, the pit bull was already confined by his owners at their home.
The ACO ordered the dog owner to immediately place the dog on a 10-day quarantine for rabies control, a standard health procedure for animal control on all bite cases to ensure the dog does not have rabies.
Animal control said it will follow up to ensure the dog owner complies with regulations.
Aldine ISD Police Department conducted an investigation into allegations of a weapon being discharged to scare off the animal during the incident. The police department determined that the dog was shot by a citizen.

«Well, at least that dog was doing his part to stop future crime. He was chewing on exactly the right one. I don't view this one so much as an attack. It's really a public service.»

«If I wasn't carrying protection, I'd have been attacked by shitbulls numerous times. Since I was, I sent them crying home to mommy, no damage to me.»
