Renowned Cuban singer and songwriter, Juan Carlos Formell, passed away at the age of 59 after suffering a heart attack onstage during a performance at the Lehman Center for the Performing Arts in New York City. Formell, who was nominated for a Grammy in 2000, had a successful career following in his father's musical footsteps. The band he was performing with, Los Van Van, continued the show after a brief break, unaware of the seriousness of Formell's condition. The news of his sudden passing has left the music community in shock and mourning.
