Newly-released footage shows an off-duty Decatur police officer being hit by a car in his own front yard.
As a cop he went back out to apprehend the guy he just witnessed commit attempted murder. If you think he should have let the perp leave, we can just let all criminals go free in your neighborhood, haha!
He called for backup as he ran inside. The driver saw the doorbell camera and realized he was about to leave evidence, so he tried to play it cool and leave.
There is NO part of any department procedures that says an officer should fire a weapon as a tool for disabling a vehicle (especially in a residential neighborhood). Bullets are for neutralizing live targets. What are all u keyboard warriors going to do after u unload you pistol into his tires/vehicle and he gets out with a loaded gun? You just used all your bullets ????????????♂️☠️!
He let the driver leave, backed up onto his own property (stand your ground), and continued to keep eyes on the suspect.
Dude decided to run him over again! Cop unloaded on driver (and from the audio) it sounds like he spared the guys life and gave him the chance to show his hands again instead of just making sure he was dead. (He is a better man than I would have been!)
That cop 100% did a great job putting himself in harms way to stop a guy that might have come to your house next. ????????????
