<p>The harrowing incident unfolded at around 2:30 p.m. on Sunday 20 in Villeneuve-Saint-Georges, a commune in the suburbs of Paris.</p>
<p>Authorities were alerted about a man suffering a "nervous crisis" who was planning to attack innocent victims, a source told local media.</p>
<p>"The Police Nationale were alerted for threatening behavior by an armed individual in the northern district and went to the spot," Villeneuve-Saint-Georges officials explained on Twitter.</p>

<p>The suspect was reportedly struck in the leg and neutralized.</p>
<p>He was transported for emergency medical treatment but his life was not in danger, authorities say.</p>
