Franklin County deputies are searching for a robbery suspect who remembered his manners. According to a video posted by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, a man entered the Red Roof Inn on West Broad Street in Prairie Township near Columbus. The video showed the masked man greeting the clerk with a quick, “How ya doin’?” before demanding that they “fill the bag up.” He repeatedly told the clerk to hurry up while holding one of his pockets, which the sheriff’s office said implied he was in possession of a weapon. He told the clerk that he wanted only bills from the cash drawer and from a safe bag that was kept in a slot next to the drawer. The video then showed the man reach across the counter to take the bag of cash before saying, “Thank you.” The clerk then asked the man if he wanted the rolls of coins. “No, I’m good, thank you,” he said before leaving the hotel. “All right, have a nice night,” the clerk said. Detectives with the sheriff’s office said the man left in a dark colored SUV and released the video in the hopes of identifying him.

Portage County, OH - A man is in custody after Portage County deputies say he led authorities on a foot chase before being apprehended by a K-9 unit on Wednesday. According to the Portage County Sheriff's Office, deputies received multiple reports on March 18 of a suspicious vehicle in the area of Sandy Lake Road. A caller later reported the suspect had abandoned that vehicle and was attempting to steal another while armed with a gun. Deputies began searching in Rootstown Township when the agency’s P.A.C.E. Unit located the suspect, who then fled on foot, the sheriff’s office said. A deputy, along with K-9 Hector, pursued the suspect. Authorities say the K-9 was deployed, and the suspect was taken into custody shortly afterward, ending the chase. The suspect has been identified as Daniel Summers. During the investigation, deputies determined the vehicle Summers allegedly abandoned had been reported stolen out of Tallmadge. Authorities said the vehicle’s keys were found in Summers’ possession at the time of his arrest. The sheriff’s office also noted Summers had previously been the subject of recent social media rumors regarding an “escaped inmate,” clarifying that the situation involved an individual who left a hospital after being arrested by another agency. According to Ravenna Municipal Court records, Summers has been charged with criminal damaging, resisting arrest, receiving stolen property and obstructing official business.

The pursuit began around 4:29 p.m. in Norwood after officers attempted to stop a white SUV driven by Iesha Harris, who was wanted on outstanding charges including felonious assault and weapons violations. Police say Harris fled, triggering a multi-agency chase that stretched across Hamilton County and into Indiana before looping back into Ohio. Dashcam footage shows the SUV pulling a flatbed trailer with a Cincinnati Police cruiser positioned on it. Authorities have not explained how the cruiser ended up there, though investigators say the suspect struck two police vehicles earlier in the pursuit. The chase ended in Harrison Township when an officer performed a PIT maneuver, causing the SUV to spin out and crash into a tree. As the vehicle veered off the road, the police cruiser on the trailer was thrown off, flipping multiple times before landing on its side in the roadway. Investigators have revealed what led up to a woman running from a U-Haul truck that was later chased by police in Butler County on Saturday. Now, the Butler County Police Department has released additional information about the incident and announced charges for the man arrested after the pursuit. Police say Kenneth Clarke, 53, got into a physical altercation with his ex-girlfriend on McGeary Street in Butler City on Saturday. The victim told investigators he repeatedly hit her in the face, then began to strangle her to the point that she started to lose consciousness. She said he also grabbed her hair and pushed her into a wall. The victim told police Clarke dragged her out of the residence by her hair, then “threw her across the driver seat” of the U-Haul and began to drive off while holding a pair of scissors up to her. When Clarke and the victim came to the intersection of West Cunningham Street and Pillow Street, she said he threatened to kill her, so she decided to flee. She told investigators that as she opened the passenger door, Clarke tried to stab her with the scissors, striking her buttocks and cutting her pants. She ran into Butler Tobacco, and police say Clarke initially followed her, but then left and was later arrested after a police chase that ended in Cranberry Township. Per the Butler County Police Department, Clarke faces several charges, including kidnapping, aggravated assault, strangulation and terroristic threats. He’s being held at the Butler County Jail on a $250,000 bond.
